Find Your Path

Erin Cummings - Clinical Psychology, Clinical Emotional Freedom Techniques ( Clinical EFT ), Sound Therapy, Sound Healing, Breathwork and Meditation

You are on a journey.

Whatever unique intention you have, there are many paths that can support you in working towards it.

Your unique path may involve one or more modalities of support; Sound, Meditation, Breath, Clinical EFT or Clinical Psychology. The key often is having an approach that tends to all levels of your wellbeing – the physical, emotional, mental, relational and energetic aspects of you.

Erin’s services can be conceptualised as two broader paths of wellbeing. These paths are not mutually exclusive and can be accessed flexibly to cater to individual needs and intentions. The first is Paths of Foundational Wellbeing, Growth and Expansion, and the second is Paths of Specialist Care.

This service overview aims to support in finding the right path for you. It also intends to build understanding of how the different services can complement each other and work together.

Map Your Own Path

Services can be conceptualised in two paths of care. Teal represents the foundational Paths of Wellbeing and marigold represents the Paths of Specialist Care. These two paths are not mutually exclusive and can be worked together.

Paths of Wellbeing,
Growth & Expansion

INTENTION “I want to support my general wellbeing and personal growth.”

Sound therapy, breathwork, meditation and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) can support foundational paths of wellbeing.

These paths can be accessed continuously as part of an ongoing personal practice, as a way of Being, regardless of life stage or personal circumstance.

These practices provide approaches to calming the mind, nourishing the nervous system, coming back to centre, moving emotions through the body, whilst also building broader self-awareness and regulation frameworks.

Each person has their unique story and intentions for engaging in personal practices. As such, an experience can be tailored to individual sessions to offer a more personalised and targeted practice or can be experienced in group settings.

Paths of
Specialist Care

INTENTION “I want to work specifically on a challenge that causes significant distress or impairment in my life.”

Clinical Psychology and Clinical EFT can support Specialist Care.

There may be times when an individual wants to work on a challenge that is causing significant distress or impairment in their life. This challenge may benefit from an added layer of support to the foundational wellbeing paths.

In these situations, individuals may choose to engage in an episode of specialist care (clinical psychology/clinical EFT), that they can engage in alongside paths of foundational wellbeing practice.

This path of specialist care can be tailored to support individuals with different needs.

“What if I…”

Here are some examples of common presenting situations and how support can be tailored to meet your individual needs.

  • Where an individual is not ready to talk or cannot talk about the challenges they are experiencing.

This can occur for many different reasons.

Talking is not everyone’s preferred way to process experiences or emotions. Sometimes it might not feel safe to begin to put words to a difficult experience.

Sometimes talking alone does not support moving the experience through one’s body and nervous system.

I have seen this be a significant ‘roadblock’ for people contemplating engaging in support – where they feel reluctant to talk about their challenges but also feel overwhelmed by the distress or impairment they experience in their everyday life due to this challenge.

In these situations, modalities that are more nonverbal or more focused on the body (somatic) may be helpful ‘entry points’ to working on a goal.

I have found that clinical Emotional Freedom Techniques (clinical EFT) offers a great bridge between talking-based therapies and somatic-based techniques that support the movement of trauma and emotion through the body. Other approaches incorporating sound therapy, breathwork and meditation also provide alternative ways of calming the mind, nourishing the nervous system, moving emotions through the body, whilst also building broader self-awareness and regulation frameworks. As an individual feels more comfortable working with these modalities, they may feel open to incorporating more talking-based elements to their support plan.

  • Sometimes individuals may not be ready to bring awareness to their body, where they may hold a difficult emotion or experience a ‘stuck’ nervous system response to stress. This might not feel like a safe place to start.

In these situations, individuals may be more willing to begin by talking or thinking about the presenting issue with a practitioner. Talking therapies with a focus on developing a coherent story around a presenting issue, that also focus on thoughts, emotions, behavioural patterns and relationships may feel like a good fit. Tailored clinical psychology and clinical EFT approaches may be helpful entry points to support here.

  • In situations where an individual can tolerate and is willing to take their awareness to their body AND to their thoughts/talking, tailored clinical EFT approaches is likely to be a good starting point. Sound therapy, breathwork and meditation also provide other complimentary support options.

  • Choosing an initial support modality should ultimately consider client safety, the most effective method and individual choice. Some individuals have clear preferences and experiences regarding what type of support modalities they want to engage in. If this is you, that’s wonderful!

Tailoring a plan that incorporates a range of care approaches is also an option. Please reach out with an enquiry to book a free intake phone call to explore possibilities.
